What are the steps for upgrading from one TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) version to another? Does TSSS have a dedicated upgrade mechanism for this task?
Resolution:
TSSS does not have a version upgrade mechanism. The way to upgrade from TSSS 7.11.0 to TSSS 11.4.1 LTS, for example, is to uninstall TSSS 7.11.0 and install TSSS 11.4.1 LTS. This applies to all types of upgrades, including from one service pack version to the next.

Note: TSSS 7.11.x and TSSS 11.4.1 LTS can both be installed on the same server at the same time, as long as each of them has its own connection URL (which includes the service name) and they do not listen on the same ports.
Note: Each TSSS instance listens on two ports.
Note: TSSS 11.4.1 LTS is supported for use with Spotfire 11.4.x LTS.
?Note: TSSS 11.4.1 LTS ships with TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) 6.0.0 as its default statistical engine.
Note: After you install the new TSSS release, if you plan to use any CRAN packages, you need to install those user-contributed third-party packages directly from the open-source R community's CRAN repository. CRAN package versions that were compatible with the TERR version used in the old TSSS release are not necessarily compatible with the TERR version used in the new TSSS release.
