Create a new Record Definition field for a Material batch/lot from the Signals Configuration

For Administrators only.

*Required.

1️⃣ Signals Configuration ➡ select [Materials]
2️⃣ Material Types pane ➡ select Material library ➡ select Record Definition ➡ select Batch/Lot
3️⃣ Batch/Lot Record Definition section ➡ Other Fields ➡ select [Field]
4️⃣ Create New Lot/Batch Field section ➡ type/select Field Name* Field Type* Required Hidden
5️⃣ Create New Lot/Batch Field section ➡ select [Add New Field]
6️⃣ Batch/Lot Record Definition section ➡ select [Save]

Supporting Knowledge

• Field Types available for Batch/Lot are: Text String, List, Multi-select List,  Number/integer, Number/Decimal, Number w/ Unit, Date/Time, Attached File, External Hyperlink, Internal Reference, Autotext List, Concentration, Variable Measure, and CAS Number.
• Variable measure type allows Administrators to choose which unit families the users can select when entering a value.

• There are two main types for internal reference:

  • General: When choosing General, the user can select a query to search any entity, such as experiments, notebooks, materials, or samples to link as an internal reference.

  • Lineage Parent: When Lineage-Parent is selected, the user can track other materials (e.g., cell lines, compounds, plasmids) as the internal reference. The selected material will be treated as a parent of the material as the newly created one.

• Unused fields can be deleted from the field definition of libraries. Once they have been used, they cannot be deleted, but they can be hidden.
