If you've accidentally deleted data from your tenant, here is the information you need to understand the possibilities and limitations of data restoration.
Irreversible Deletion of Tenant Data: Once data is deleted from a tenant, there is no option to revert the tenant back to its original state before the deletion. Restoring the tenant to its previous state before the data loss is not possible in the current architecture
No Programmatic Restoration: Currently, there is no programmatic method to restore deleted entities. Users must manually restore items through the User Interface (UI). Additionally, once items are purged from the trash, they cannot be recovered. Purging is a permanent action.
Specific Data Types and Their Restoration Process
-
Experiments and Notebooks:
- Deleted experiments and notebooks are moved to the "Trashed Items" section.
- They remain in the trash for at least 30 days, during which they can be restored.
-
Materials and Samples:
- Deleted materials and samples cannot be directly retrieved.
- Information about these deleted items can be found in the audit log.
- Users can refer to the audit log to recover details about the deleted materials and samples during a specific timeframe and can use this information to manually add them back to system.
Important Considerations
-
Purging is Permanent:
- Once items are purged from the trash, they cannot be recovered.
- It is crucial to act promptly if you need to restore items from the "Trashed Items" section.
-
Manual Restoration:
- Restoration must be performed manually through the UI, as there are no programmatic options available.
