In Signals Notebook, plates can be added to Experiments and are used to record data. When different assays require various materials in the same well, is there a way to add different materials on the same well of a plate?
Answer: Yes, it is possible to add different materials in a single well, however, you should note that the plates work by layers, an annotation layer of class “Material” can only have one material. To add a second material in a well, you must add a new annotation layer of class "Material" and popularize this new layer.
How to create a new annotation layer of class “Material”?
- You must go to an experiment that already contains a plate or create one.
- Go to your plate.
- Click on the button available at the end of the annotation layers and select Add Annotation Layer option.
- The Add Annotation Layer dialog appears.
- For the field “Name” type the name you want for this annotation layer.
- For the field "Annotation class" select the option "Material".
- Click on "Create".
Once the new layer is added, you can proceed to add more materials in the same well. The number of annotation layers to create depends on the number of materials you want to add to the same well.
Note: If you are a system administrator, you can also create templates for your Plates with more annotation layers.
