Signals Notebook: Registering Materials with Salt Using Correct Chemical Names in Normalized Compounds Library

Description

Normalized Compounds library supports registering materials as asset in salt-stripped structure while batches keep raw structure under normalized asset. By default, when registering a chemical structure with salt to a Normalized Compounds library, the chemical name of the raw structure becomes the name of the created asset. This causes mismatch between the chemical structure of the asset and the chemical name of the asset.
This article explains how to modify the library configuration to use the normalized structure's name for the asset instead.

Solution

Adjust the library configuration to generate the chemical name from the normalized structure during material registration.
Follow these steps:

1. Log in to the Signals Configuration app as a System Admin user.
2. Navigate to the Materials section.
3. In the left column, locate and click on the library you created from the Normalized Compounds type.
4. Expand the menu under the library name and select "Sample Mapping."
5. In the right pane, find the "Chemical Name" field.
6. Click the 'X' icon next to the "Chemical Name" field to clear its contents.
7. Click the "Save" button to apply the changes.

After completing these steps, the library will use the normalized structure's name for newly registered assets, ensuring more accurate and consistent chemical naming in your Normalized Compounds library.
