A Spotfire for Signals entity gets automatically locked when it is opened in Spotfire for Signals for editing, to notify other users that someone is working on a commonly shared file. After completing the edits and saving the file, it becomes unlocked and available to other users for editing after closing.
Spotfire Online - DXPs opened via Spotfire Online are always automatically unlocked
Spotfire for Signals (Spotfire analyst) – The process for locking/unlocking considers different events to proceed.
Unlocking Guarantees
We ensure unlocking in the following scenarios:
- The user closes the current document (including closing Analyst), whether saved or not.
- The user saves the current document as a new document.
- The user opens another document directly.
Limitations:
Based on the current implementation, the opened DXP will not be automatically unlocked if:
- The Spotfire Analyst Windows process crashes.
- The Spotfire Analyst Windows process is manually terminated (e.g., "End Task" in Task Manager) or the computer is turned off without closing Analyst.
- The Analyst login session expires, and the user does not re-login (in this case, the user must log in again and close the document). Refer to the following screenshot:
