Symptoms:
When attempting to open the Image Import app in the Spotfire client using:
Open New > Other > Image Import
You may receive the following error message:
Could not execute tool 'Image Import®...' Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Signals.ColumbusNavigator.ColumbusNavigatorTool.BackwardCompatibility_Rebranding(AnalysisApplication context) at Signals.ColumbusNavigator.ColumbusNavigatorTool.ExecuteCore(AnalysisApplication context) at Spotfire.Dxp.Application.Tool`1.<InternalExecute>d__8.MoveNext() at Spotfire.Dxp.Forms.Application.FormsToolHandler.TryExecute(Tool tool, Object toolContext)
Cause:
This error occurs because the Image Import app is being launched via an outdated entry point, which bypasses the necessary initialization steps.
Resolution:
To launch the app correctly and avoid this error:
Go to Tools menu > Signals Apps > Apps > Image Import
This method ensures the app is launched with the correct context and dependencies.
Important Note:
The legacy method (Open New > Other > Image Import) is planned for removal in a future release.
