This article provides step-by-step instructions for updating an expiring SAML SSO certificate in a Signals tenant to maintain authentication functionality.
Solution:
When an SSO certificate is expiring, administrators can update it by following these steps:
1. Download the Base64 certificate from the Identity Provider (IdP)
2. Edit the certificate text to be a single line with no spaces and remove any BEGIN or END tags
3. Login to Signals Notebook as Administrator
4. Navigate to System Settings > Authentication > Authentication Provider Information
5. Enter the formatted certificate string (from step 2) in the "SAML Key" field as a single line with no spaces

6. Use the "Test Authentication" button to verify the configuration is working properly
*Always test the authentication before saving the configuration*
7. Only save the new configuration if the test is successful
**Important Notes:**
- The certificate must be formatted as a single continuous line without spaces
- Refer to specific knowledge base articles for Azure/Entra ID and Okta IdP configurations for detailed setup instructions
- Failure to properly update the certificate before expiration will result in loss of SSO access for all users
