After a Windows Update on the ELN server, ELN clients are unable to log in.
Solution: We need to restore the permissions for the ELN folders.
Sometimes a windows update resets the folder and file security; we need to restore permissions on some files and folders..
1. Log in on your Web Server whit an administrator account.
2. Open a Windows Explorer window then locate the “TEMP” folder located on “C:\WINDOWS\TEMP”
3. Right click on it and select the PROPERTIES option in the context menu.
4. Click on the SECURITY tab then click on EDIT.
5. Click on the ADD button.
6. Click on locations and choose your Server name and click OK.
7. Type LOCAL SERVICE on the object names box and click OK
8. Check the Allow FULL CONTROL box on the local service and click OK
9. On your windows Explorer window locate the “Temporary ASP.NET Files” folder located on for C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files
10. Right click on it and select the PROPERTIES option in the context menu.
11. Click on the SECURITY tab then click on EDIT.
12. Click on the ADD button.
13. Click on locations and choose your Server name and click OK.
14. Type LOCAL SERVICE on the object names box and click OK
15. Check the Allow FULL CONTROL box on the local service and click OK
If your external client still cannot connect to e-notebook please continue whit the steps below.
1. On your windows Explorer window locate the “OracleConfig.xml” folder located on for C:\Program Files\CambridgeSoft\E-Notebook 11.0\OracleConfig.xml
2. Right click on it and select the PROPERTIES option in the context menu.
3. Click on the SECURITY tab then click on EDIT.
4. Click on the ADD button.
5. Click on locations and choose your Server name and click OK.
6. Type EVERYONE on the object names box and click OK
7. Check the Allow FULL CONTROL box on the everyone and click OK
(This step is only required if it is found that an external client cannot connect to the e-notebook.)
