Rendering error when SigmaPlotGraphicObject is embedded into Excel section

PROBLEM:

User is getting the following error when rendering his experiment:

Sorry, while rendering, while exporting the selected information: an error occurred while exporting ms excel spreadsheet of section "MS Excel Spreadsheet" of biology experiment "XXXXXX": Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Picture'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208A6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

REASON:

The reason is that user inserted graphs from SigmaPlot into some of his Excel sections.


WORKAROUND:

1. Remove the SigmaPlot objects from Excel sections.
2. Save those graphs in Paint as image files (e.g. in PNG format).
3. Paste the images to Excel sections.
4. Save.

After that, the error should no longer occur when rendering with any command (“Export to Word…”, “Export to PDF…”, “Print”, or “Sign and Close”).
