Problem:

When a user tries to sign and close in the E-Notebook, the usual progress bar pops up, but always fails with the error:

Sorry, error creating rendition for E-Signatures:
--Automation Error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients

 

Solution:

The issue has been resolved by repairing MS Office on that ELN client machine.
