TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services fails to start with error “Error 1069: The service did not start due to logon failure”
When starting up TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) on windows computer you may see it fails to start with below error :
This is applicable on windows OS where TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Service is configured to run by a service account in Windows Services Manager. This scenario is mostly applicable for clustered TSSS deployments where it is mandatory to run each node in cluster by a designated service account. This error can also occur in standalone installation if service account is used to run the service ( It is NOT mandatory to run standalone TSSS by a service account).
This error can occur if given service account has not been granted "Log on as a service” rights from Local Security Policy on given machine. For clustered deployments this should be done on all the Manager Node and Worker Node machines in cluster.
To grant service access , follow below steps on Windows machine:

- On the task bar, click Start >Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
- In the Local Security Settings dialog box, under Security Settings, expand Local Policies, select User Rights Assignment, and then double click Log on as a service.
- In the Log on as a service Properties dialog box, click Add User or Group, and then enter the service account used to run the TSSS service.
4. Start the service
5. Follow 1 to 4 on all cluster node machines.
