Solution:

What workflow is used by Spotfire Server when OpenID authentication is configured?

Spotfire Server currently supports the "Authorization Code Flow" workflow only. The second table within the following link shows the various response_types:

Spotfire Server sends "code" as response_type. The discovery document URL, when browsed, will show the list of response types under the "response_types_supported" tag.
