Problem:
How to configure a table so Spotfire recognizes it for geocoding?
Solution:
Versions: 7.0.x, 7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.8
Details
Customers may want to use local data tables for geocoding in map charts instead of pre-loaded geocoding tables.
Resolution
For Spotfire to recognize a data table for geocoding, two fields must be set.
1). Under Edit/Column Properties/Properties, you must have the "mapchart.columntypeid" property set for your Latitude and Longitude columns. For example:
[Latitude column] == YCenter
[Longitude column] == XCenter
2). Under Edit/Column Properties, the "ColumnType" for these columns must be set to "Real". Occasionally they are imported as "Currency", using Insert/Transformation/Change data types to resolve this problem.
