Problem:
Printing the PDF documents exported via Spotfire Version 5.5 hangs/takes a long time with the message 'Flattening'.
Solution:
This is not a Spotfire issue but an Acrobat issue. Recommended solution from Adobe to avoid the printing problem is as follows.
1). Open Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
2). Select your printer.
3). Select the Advanced button in the lower left of the Adobe Printer Dialog.
4). Check the Print As Image option also. If an option for the dpi is available, select 300 or 400 dpi.
The above will convert the PDF to an image prior to sending it to the printer as a solution to resolve printing problems.
