Problem:

Why can't my CsCartridge installer find the file OCI.dll? When I run the installer for the Oracle Cartridge on a new instance of Oracle I get a message that the cartridge installer can not find the OCI.dll.  The error message lists many directories that were checked, but not the one where the file resides, C:/oracle/ora92/bin.


Solution:

In one installation, on a new Windows machine with Oracle 9i on it, the PATH to the oracle instance failed to be entered into the environmental variables.  If you see the behavior above:
1) Go to the "My Computer" icon on the windows desktop and right click to get 'Properties'. 
2) Click on the 'Advanced' tab then the 'Environmental Variables' botton.
3) Scroll down to the system variable PATH and click the EDIT button.

There needs to be a path to the binary directory in your oracle instance here e.g. C:\oracle\ora92\bin or D:\oracle\ora81\bin.  If there is not, then add your path to the existing ones separated by a semicolon.
