Problem:

Why does my SDFile open in a text file when I click the Download SDFile link after exporting my hits instead of asking me if I want to save the file to my desktop?

Solution:

If client machines have not been configured to recognize the SDFile format, files with the extension .sdf will be recognized only as text. Because of this, instead of offering to save the file, when the Download SDFile link is clicked, the file will be opened as a text file in the browser. To configure a machine properly, please do the following:

Open IIS>Default Website>Properties
Go to the HTTP Headers tab
Select File Types
Select New Type and enter .sdf and chemical/x-mdl-sdf
Export a hit list
