Binder requires to upload a PDF file twice when Adobe Reader is installed
PROBLEM:
After adding a PDF file into a Binder section of E-Notebook 12.x from the machine where Adobe Reader X is installed, the PDF view is empty. The
corresponding “Captured Image” subsection tab shows the file name of
the original pdf, but displays just a blank page.
Despite the link to PDF is displayed in the Binder “Index” subsection,
one needs to complete the import by using “Import PDF” form tool in the
“Captured Image” subsection. After the content of the imported PDF is
displayed, the import is completed, and the saved data will not
disappear.
WORKAROUND:
This issue with the two-step import only happens with a default routing
of PDFs into a “Captured Image” subsection of a “Binder” section. The
suggested workaround changes the routing from a “Captured Image” to an
“Image” subsection. This allows completing the import in one step.
Configure the Binder to use "Image" section type instead of "Captured
Image" for PDFs:
1. As an E-Notebook administrator, go to Everyone -> Configuration
-> Drag And Drop -> Section Types -> Binder Index -> [right
click] -> Section Type Configuration -> Fields -> Binder ->
[on the right] -> Custom Properties.
2. In “Drag And Drop Configuration” dialog, configure “Associations” to
use Section Type = “Image” (instead of “Captured Image”) for Field =
“PDF”. For that, delete the following line:
Captured Image – PDF – .pdf
and then edit the "Image" line, adding .pdf to its file type
associations.
3. Refresh E-Notebook (F5).
