TIBCO Spotfire data function that uses a TERR script returns 'Error in open(con, "rb") : can only open URLs for reading'

TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) (or a Spotfire data function that uses a TERR script) returns the error:

'Error in open(con, "rb") : can only open URLs for reading'
  Two known issues, which both feature this error message and involve interaction with user-contributed packages from the open-source R community's CRAN repository (including the "curl" and "quantmod" packages), were reported in TERR 4.3.x and fixed in TERR 4.4.0.

Spotfire 7.11.0 ships with TERR 4.4.0 as the desktop client's built-in local TERR engine. TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) 7.11.0 ships with TERR 4.4.0 as its default statistical engine.

To resolve, upgrade to version 7.11 or higher.

Note:  There were no TSSS releases between TSSS 7.5 and TSSS 7.11.
