Meaning of the X(Y) values in the ‘Instances’ column in 'Monitoring & Diagnostics' > 'Instances' > 'Overview' tab for a TIBCO Spotfire Web Player
In the TIBCO Spotfire Server 'Monitoring & Diagnostics' page 'Instances' tab, after selecting a Web Player instance on the left, the Information section will display the 'Overview' tab which provides details of analysis files that are open or cached on that particular instance. In the 'Instances' column, you may see 2 values like '(3) 7' or '(Only Cached) 1' like seen below. This article explains what these values represent.
The values in the 'Instances' column represent the number of open instances of the given analysis file. An analysis file may get loaded on multiple Web Player instances under a few circumstances:
- A file Rule is created for an analysis which has 'Number of instances' set to a value greater than 1, meaning the analysis file will get cached on multiple Web Player instances.
or
- If the Web Player instance which already has the analysis opened is 'exhausted' then subsequent user requests for that same analysis file will get routed to a different 'non-strained' Web Player (instances which have a status of 'available' or if no 'available' instances are online then instances which have a status of"strained").
- A: The number of open instances of the analysis file on selected Web Player instance
- (B): The number of open instances of the analysis file on other Web Player instances
