TERR error on launch: "S3method '[.pdf_doc' not defined"

TERR error on launch: "S3method '[.pdf_doc' not defined", both when used via a Spotfire data function and when launched in a local TERR Console session. This occurred in a Spotfire Analyst desktop client that had been updated from 7.0.1 to 7.8 by logging into Spotfire Server 7.8 and accepting updates. 
 

Steps to correct this problem: 

- Uninstall the client. 
- Install the client from the Spotfire 7.8 installation media. 
- Login to Spotfire Server 7.8 and accept updates.


Details:

1). Uninstalled the Spotfire Analyst desktop client, which had been installed as Spotfire 7.0.1 then updated across several versions to Spotfire 7.8.0.1.24 by accepting updates from Spotfire Server 7.8.

2). Obtained installation media for Spotfire Analyst 7.8 from the organization's Spotfire Administrator, installed and launched the Spotfire 7.8 desktop client, logged into the Spotfire Server 7.8 instance, and accepted updates.

After doing this, selecting "Tools > TERR Tools > Launch TERR Console" from the main menu launched a TERR Console 4.3.0 session successfully, without the error. A simple Spotfire data function using the desktop client's built-in local TERR engine also finished correctly without throwing this error.
