This article is intended for Administrators of a Signals One tenant only.
Problem
When an administrator attempts to delete an existing field from a Material library, the operation may fail with the following error message:
"The field < field name > could not be deleted, because it is used in an active Data Factory map."
Solution
As the error message indicates, you must remove the field from the mapping definition of all projects associated with this library. Disabling Material Sync doesn't resolve the error.
Before proceeding, confirm that removing the field from the current Material Sync will not negatively impact your workflow.
If you do not have access to a specific Data Factory project, it will not appear in the Materials settings. — even if you are an administrator. To verify project access, go to Signals Configuration → Data Factory → Projects and confirm that your group has been granted access.
- Log in to Signals Configuration as an admin user.
- Navigate to the Data Factory Mapping settings: Go to Materials -> "the library you want to modify" -> Data Factory Mapping.
- Disable Material Sync (if active): If the Material Sync toggle is currently ON, disable it to stop Material Sync before making changes.
- Navigate to Project Mappings under the library. All Data Factory projects associated with this library will be listed here.
Note: If you do not have access to a specific Data Factory project, it will not appear in this list — even if you are an administrator. To verify project access, go to Signals Configuration → Data Factory → Projects and confirm that your group has been granted access. - Open the mapping settings for each project, one at a time.
- Clear the field value: In the Entity Attributes column, clear the value for the field you wish to delete.
- Save the changes: Click the Save Map button to save the updated mapping.
- Repeat steps 5–7 for all remaining projects until the field has been cleared from every mapping.
- Re-enable Material Sync (if applicable): If you disabled Material Sync in step #3, navigate back to the Data Factory Mapping settings and turn the toggle back ON to resume Material Sync.
