Description
Explains how internal references, hover-over information, and access behave for experiments that are trashed (soft-deleted) versus permanently deleted (purged) after the retention period.
Solution
- Internal Reference: If you create an Internal Reference (and the Originating Experiment is an Internal Reference), it is essentially a hyperlink. Even if you delete the item that the link goes to, the link will stay there unchanged.
- Hover-over (i): The hover-over (i) does a live lookup, so the information within it will show current information and respect current access.
- Permanently Deleted/Purged: Purging is total. Once permanently deleted (after 30 days), if an Internal Reference links to a purged item, that will be a dead link. The hover-over will not show anything, as there is nothing there to show.
- Soft-deleted/Trashed: If the item is trashed but not permanently deleted (within 30 days), the link still works and will open the experiment, and its status will show as Trashed.
Administrative note: Enabling permanent deletion will cause items in Trash to be purged after the retention period; this action is irreversible. Use caution when activating or relying on this setting.
