When creating tasks from a Samples Table in Signals Notebook, it is possible to find the checkbox "Create 1 Task for each item". This article explains the behavior of this feature and how tasks are generated from samples.
Solution:
The "Create 1 Task for each item" checkbox in the task creation dialog affects how references associated with samples are handled, not how the samples themselves are processed. Here's how the task creation process works when initiated from a Samples Table:
Basic Behavior:
Regardless of whether the "Create 1 Task for each item" checkbox is selected, one task will be created for each sample row selected in the Samples Table. For example, if you select 10 samples, you will always get 10 tasks (one per sample)
When "Create 1 Task for each item" is checked:
For each sample that has multiple references (such as containers, materials, or other linked items), separate tasks will be created for each reference within that sample.
Example: If Sample 1 has 2 references and Sample 2 has 3 references, you would get 5 tasks total (2 + 3).
When "Create 1 Task for each item" is unchecked:
For each sample that has multiple references, one task will be created that includes all references from that sample.
Example: If Sample 1 has 2 references and Sample 2 has 3 references, you would get 2 tasks total (1 for each sample).
If you want more information about this function, it is documented in the Signals Notebook Help Center under "Help Center > Signals One & Signals Notebook > Create and Record > Working with Samples > Creating Tasks".
