Cannot start Spotfire client and getting error: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\path to\client\x.x.x\somefile.xxx' is denied
When starting the Spotfire client you get an error similar to "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\path to\client\x.x.x\somefile.xxx' is denied". This is most of the time due to the client being installed (or when using the portable client) in a folder where the user does not have the correct access rights to write changes to configurations that are needed to run the client. If you are using the portable client you need to run it from a folder where you have full access (read/write) and if it is the installed client you need to have read/write access to the user folder, typically C:\Users\Your-User\AppData\Local\TIBCO\Spotfire. You can also start the client as administrator if there is an issue with changing the permissions as that should give you the needed access right to the folder.
