When I choose the Initialize LaserWriter command from the ChemDraw File menu, I get the following error message: Error opening driver for LaserWriter 8. Check to make sure the appropriate printer is selected using the Chooser desk accessory.
Solution:
This is a known problem under MacOS 8.x for older versions of ChemDraw. The latest version of ChemDraw does not encounter this problem. Upgrade to the latest version, otherwise, the workaround is to make a copy of the LaserWriter 8 driver, which is normally found in the System Extensions folder. Place the copy in the System Folder. You must make sure that the System Folder is open when dragging the copy of the driver into it, otherwise the MacOS will attempt to put the driver into the Extensions folder. Once the copy is in the System Folder, open the Chooser, and select the "LaserWriter 8 Copy" driver, select the appropriate printer, and close the Chooser to save your changes.
