Configure the settings of the Editable Data Grid app to insert data from a local file as new columns

Prior to this task:

✔ Data file must be saved locally.

✔ Data Import and Grid Plate Editor apps must be configured.

✔ Editable Data Grid app must be opened.

1️⃣ Editable Data Grid tab ➡ Populate editable Data Grid from ➡ select  [(Create a new empty data grid)] ➡ select  [Load file…]
2️⃣ Open window ➡ browse and select file
3️⃣ Open window ➡ select  [Open]
4️⃣ Editable Data Grid tab ➡ select Save data as: New Columns Table to add columns
5️⃣ Editable Data Grid tab ➡ Match Columns ➡ select  [add]
6️⃣ Match columns window ➡ select Table to add new columns ➡ select column(s) New Data (Data Grid Table) ➡ select column(s) [Add items]
7️⃣ Match columns window ➡ select  [Save]
8️⃣ Editable Data Grid tab ➡ select  [Apply]

Supporting Knowledge

Alternatively, from the Editable Data Grid tab, under Save data as, the user can save the data as a New table, as well as Replace columns, Replace column values, or Replace selected table contents. Depending on the option selected, the user will be prompted to select settings accordingly.

Note: The  [add] button will allow the user to edit, delete, or add more column matches.

Optionally, from the Match columns window, the user can mark all or unmark all items by selecting the  [Mark All] or [Unmark All] buttons, respectively. Also, the user can remove individual items or remove all items by selecting the [Remove items] or  [Remove all] buttons, respectively.

Optionally, to clear the information from the Grid area, select the  [Reset grid] button.

Optionally, from the Configuration tab, the user can modify the join type when connecting tables. From the Editable Data Grid tab, select  [Configuration]. From the Editable Data Grid – Configuration tab, under Select join type when joining the tables, select a join option. The Left Single Match Join option executes the join of the rows from original data only, single match from new. The Left Outer Join option performs the join of the rows from original data only.

Additionally, from the Editable Data Grid – Configuration tab, the user can turn on the Filters panel by selecting the [Filter Panel] toggle. This option enables the user to filter out data to perform further exploration. Filters selected will be applied to the data in the Grid. Select the  [reset filters] button to reset all the active filtering.
