Create a new relationship between a custom entity and a core entity in Data Factory

For Administrators only.

Prior to this task:

✔ Custom entity must be created.

✔ Core entity must be available.

1️⃣ Signals Configuration ➡ select [Data Factory]
2️⃣ Entities section ➡ select custom entity ➡ select Relationships
3️⃣ Entities section ➡ Relationships tab ➡ select [Create Relationship]
4️⃣ New Relationship window ➡ type/select Relationship Name* custom entity links to*: core entity Global/Within Project A custom entity relates to A relates to
5️⃣ New Relationship window ➡ select [Create Relationship]

Notes:

• Data Factory only supports relationships defined on core entities (Compound and Batch). 
• Data Factory only supports relationships between core tables (Compounds and Batches) and custom entity tables.
• In step 4: 
  • The relationship can exist within its own project or globally (Location). To load custom entities in a different project, users will need to link "Globally." By default, "Within its own project" is selected.
  • Relationship textboxes allow users to describe the relationship in more detail to drive the query capabilities in Inventa; for example, users can add an adjective (e.g., primary). This is useful when two relationships are linked to the same custom entity, which allows users to define the relationship in more detail (e.g., primary target and secondary target). These descriptions will drive the Global Search interface when users are doing queries in Inventa; therefore, it is important to describe the relationship. However, this is optional and can simply be left as "a."
  • The Join On dropdown menus allow the user to define which columns are going to be joined. The first dropdown contains the list of columns from the core entity (e.g., Compound) table. The link source attribute must be present. The second dropdown contains the list of columns from the custom entity (e.g., Molecular Target) table. Select Create Relationship to save the settings and close the menu.
     
  • It is recommended that the second attribute to be linked is unique (i.e., $$*attribute*ID).
• Composite joins can be created by adding additional joins. To do so, select [add join]. When using a composite join, only the conditions that were included as part of the composite join will be returned in a query from Global Search.
