This issue occurs if you had an older version of ChemDraw installed on a different folder (like your roaming profile folder) and now ChemDraw is installed under C:\Program Files or any other folder.
Details:
Option 1:
- Look for the location of your ChemDraw.exe file. By default it should be listed under C:\Program Files\RevvitySignalsSoftware\ChemDrawApplications_x64\ChemDraw.exe
- Click Search on your task bar and type "Regedit". When the Registry editor appears, right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator" (Or More > Run as Administrator).
- Open \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\com.revvity.chemdraw\Shell\Open\Command
- Double-click the (Default) key and replace the existing path with the one in step one. Leave the "%1" at the end and click OK.
5. Close the Registry Editor and start ChemDraw again.
Option 2:
1. Uninstall ChemDraw and ChemDraw Applications using the Programs and Features option in your Control Panel.
2. Click Start and enter "Regedit". When the Registry editor appears, right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator (Or More > Run as Administrator).
3. Open Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\com.revvity.chemdraw
4. Right-Click the "com.revvity.chemdraw" folder and delete it.
5. Reinstall ChemDraw and test again.
