Description
By default, ChemSketch hides many carbon atom labels (especially in standard organic line structures) to keep drawings clean and uncluttered. In some cases—such as teaching, preparing publication‑ready figures, or checking the connectivity of complex frameworks—you may want every carbon atom to be shown explicitly with a “C” label.
ChemSketch allows you to change this display behavior so that all carbons in the selected structure (or in all new structures by default) are shown explicitly.
Solution
- In ChemSketch, on the general toolbar, choose Structure mode.
- From the Tools menu, choose Structure Properties.
- Alternatively, select the drawn structure, right‑click it, and from the pop‑up menu choose Object Properties. The Properties dialog box appears.
- In the Properties dialog box, click the Common tab.
- Under Show Carbons, select the All checkbox to display all carbon atoms explicitly.
- At the bottom of the Properties dialog box, click Apply to affect the current selection, or Set Default to make this behavior the default for future structures.
