ChemSketch: How to change which atom is attached to a bond

Description

When you create custom atom labels using Edit Atom Label (for example complex groups or multi-atom fragments), ChemSketch allows you to choose which atom in that label is considered bonded to the rest of the structure. You can cycle through the possible attachment points so the bond connects at the most chemically appropriate position.

Solution

Custom atom labels generated using the Edit Atom Label tool (available from the bottom left corner in Structure mode) can be connected to a bond via any of their atoms. To change the connected atom, please follow these steps:

1. Choose Structure mode and from the Structure toolbar, enable the Change Position button .
2.  Hold down SHIFT and click on the atom label to cycle through the different atoms.
