Description
Lewis structures and mechanism diagrams often require lone pairs or electron pairs shown as dots. ChemSketch includes electron pair symbols in template sets such as Lewis Structures or Reaction Symbols.
Solution
- Draw a structure in Structure mode.
- Click Open Template Window
, or from the Templates menu, choose Open Template Window.
- From the drop-down menu, choose the Lewis Structures or Reaction Symbols template if present. If no you need to open Template Organizer from Templates menu. In the Templates list, check the Lewis Structures or Reaction Symbols box and click OK.
- Click on the electron pair symbol. Your cursor will show the electron dots attached to the pointer. Each time you point at the molecule and left-click, a pair of electron dots will be drawn.
- When you are finished drawing electron dots, right-click anywhere on the screen.
