Summary:
The Publish button in Signals experiments may be greyed out due to an active publication process or locked elements, often caused by unsaved changes from multiple tabs or sessions. To resolve, wait for any current publication processes to complete, check the lock status of all elements, and if the issue persists, close all tabs and log back in.
Issue:
Within the Experiment, the Publish button is present but greyed out or disabled and the tool tip says: "One or more of the elements in the Experiment is locked. Please unlock all elements to enable publishing."
Causes:
- A previous publication process is ongoing.
- One or more elements in the experiment are locked, preventing publication.
How to Fix:
- Wait for a Previous Publication to Finish
If someone recently published data, this is normal behavior.- Allow the ongoing publication process to fully complete before attempting to publish again.
- If the lock is due to a publication currently in progress, you should also see a "Temporarily Locked" status at the top of the experiment:
- Check for Locked Elements
If there is no current publication process in progress causing a temporary lock, and the Publish button is still greyed out or disabled due to locked elements:- Look for any elements you are currently editing or have open.
- Save any changes you'd like to keep.
- Verify if any remaining elements are still locked.
- Ensure no other users are working on or editing the same experiment or its elements.
After completing the above checks, you can manually unlock elements if necessary. To find the unlock button, hover your mouse in the upper right corner of the experiment's elements and click the lock icon:
Refresh Your Session
If the cause of the lock still remains unclear:- Close all open tabs and windows where the experiment or its elements are being accessed.
- Log back into the system and reopen the experiment
