Summary:
The missing publish button in Signals experiments occurs due to improper template configuration. Ensure that the selected experiment template is enabled to publish to Data Factory. If a template without publishing rights was used, a new experiment must be created with a properly configured template to enable publishing functionality.
Issue:
The publish button is missing entirely when trying to publish to Data Factory from an experiment
Cause:
The publish button will be missing from the experiment if it was created using a template without Data Factory publishing access enabled. If no template was selected during setup, the system defaults to one that may also lack publishing permissions.
How to Fix:
Check the Properties of the current Experiment:
- To confirm the issue, navigate to the Properties section of your experiment and fully expand it.
- If the template used to create your experiment does not include publish access, there will be no Data Factory Project information within the Properties section.
This is also where you can confirm the original template used to create the experiment.
Update or Create a New Template (Requires Admin Permissions):
Admins can modify the existing template to include publish access or create a new template with publish access enabled
Steps to Navigate to Publishing Activation Setting
- Open Signals Configuration.
- Go to Objects > Experiments.
- In the left menu, under Experiment Settings, select Templates.
- Choose a template or create a new one.
- In the upper-right corner, click Data Factory Mapping.
Add and Save a new Data Factory Mapping
- From the left menu, select Publishing Activation. Select the checkmark to enable publishing and then choose an option for when users are required to select a project
Create a New Experiment Using the New or Updated Template
- Please note that publication settings cannot be changed for an existing experiment. The experiment will continue to preserve the publish settings provided by the original template at the time of the experiment creation.
- Therefore, it is required to create a new experiment using either the updated or new template where publishing access is already enabled
- Once created, the Publish button should appear in the upper-right corner:
- The Properties section will now display a Data Factory Project selection. If multiple projects are mapped to the experiment template, a dropdown menu will allow you to select one from the available projects.
Additional Tip:
Admins in Signals Configuration can quickly identify whether experiment templates are linked to Data Factory by looking for the symbol found on the individual Experiment Template tiles, as shown below:
