Question/Issue:
Why are the Materials that were deleted from the Material Library still visible in the Integrated Summary App for my Legacy Data Factory Project when I have Material Sync enabled?
- For Legacy Data Factory projects, materials deleted from the SNB Material Library continue to appear in Integrated Summary App (ISA) queries, including Standard Query and Quick Query.
- The deleted materials will continue to appear in ISA even after the deletion(s) performed in the Material Library have been successfully processed by Material Sync.
Answer:
This is a known limitation for Integrated Summary App (ISA) in Legacy Data Factory Projects.
- When a material is deleted in a Legacy project, it is flagged as deleted in the index rather than fully removed.
- Global Search is designed to filter out data using this flag by default. However, ISA does not support the ability to filter using this flag.
- As a result, deleted materials (including their structures and attributes) will still appear in ISA results, even if the Material Sync is correctly working.
Additional Information:
Differences between Legacy and Data Factory 2.0 Behavior:
Data Factory 2.0 handles deletions differently than Legacy Data Factory.
- Rather than flagging a material as deleted, DF 2.0 removes the material's attributes from the index.
- If the deleted material has no associated measurement data, it will no longer appear in search results.
- If measurement data does exist, the compound or batch ID will still appear in search results as a placeholder, but the material's attributes (such as structure) are removed. This preserves access to the measurement data already published while still indicating the material itself has been deleted.
Because Legacy Data Factory is scheduled for future depreciation, the improved deletion handling in DF 2.0 is the intended long-term solution.
Workaround: Hiding Deleted Materials from Global Search for Legacy Projects:
While there is not a fix available for ISA, deleted materials can be hidden from Global Search for Legacy projects. Please note that the default setting is already automatically set to hide the deleted materials.
If you are still seeing deleted materials in Global Search, below is where to find the setting controlling this behavior:
- Open Spotfire (Analyst or Web Player)
- Go to Tools > Signals Apps
- Click the ellipsis (⋯) next to Inventa and select Settings
Under the Global Search section there is the setting for "Search Deleted SNB Materials in Legacy Projects"
