How to find out location of ELN database server

Q:

How can I find out what server our ELN database sits on?

A:

On ELN client PC, search for ENClientConfig.xml file, it should be in subfolders of c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 folder.

In ENClientConfig.xml you'll find ELN Application Server Name.

On Application Server, find OracleConfig.xml, it should be in C:\Program Files\CambridgeSoft\E-Notebook\ folder. 

In OracleConfig.xml you'll find Net Service Name.

On Application Server, search for tnsnames.ora file, by default it should be in the Oracle client ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory.

In tnsnames.ora you'll find ELN Database Server Name.

Please note that Application and Database servers could be located on separate servers.
