Description
When a record is deleted in Spectrus Database Enterprise (SDBE), it remains recoverable only until the nightly purge (default 3AM). If not restored the same day, the record can only be recovered from a prior server backup. Newer software versions provide same-day undelete capability before the purge window. Note that the client application AND the enterprise server both must be updated to version 2025.2.2 or later.
Solution
- Determine if same-day undelete is possible:
- Check software version is 2025.2.2 or later
- In Remote Spectrus DB, navigate to Database > Tools > Deleted Records History
- Confirm the record ID number by choosing the record and checking when the record was deleted
- An admin can undelete the record on the client application the day of deletion:
- Log in with admin credentials and navigate to Database > Tools > Restore Deleted Records
- Check the box of the record ID to be restored and click OK
- Refresh the database and check the restored record
- An admin can undelete the record via Enterprise Server Manager Console (ESMC) the day of deletion:
- Connect to the database
- In the Record Sets tab, right-click on the record set that the record was deleted and select Restore Deleted Records
- Check the box of the record ID to be restored and click OK
- If same-day undelete is no longer possible (post-purge):
- Check availability of a server backup created before the deletion
- If a backup is available, on ESMC, open the Backups tab
- Select the directory containing backups, choose the appropriate backup, and click Restore.
- Validate that the restored data contains the needed record
- Preventive measures:
- Double-check the record to be deleted before clicking Delete
- Configure regular automated SDBE backups via Scheduler tab in ESMC
- Upgrade clients/servers to a version that supports undelete before the purge window
- Establish an internal process to contact the SDBE server host/admin immediately after accidental deletions
