Description
Multiple users are unable to log in to Katalyst. This typically indicates issues with the Spectrus DB administrator account (expired password or lockout), an expired CHEMBOOK password, MongoDB service failures, or Web API permission/ license‑limit problem.
Solution
- Oracle Spectrus DB administrator password expired:
Change the password according to the database password policy.
Note: For details, refer to the Oracle Security Guide.
- Spectrus DB administrator account locked due to excessive login attempts:
- Unlock the Spectrus DB administrator account.
- Change the password.
- Expired CHEMBOOK password caused Spectrus DB account lock:
- Start ESMC (<ACD>\SPECTRUSDB.SRV\ESMC.EXE).
- In the Server Tree, right‑click Oracle DB, then select Properties.
- In the Server Properties dialog, click Test:
- If the CHEMBOOK password is expired, update it.
- If the test succeeds but issues persist, contact Technical Support.
- MongoDB is not running:
- In Windows Task Manager → Services, check that MongoDB has a Running status.
- Start it if necessary.
- If MongoDB is running but the issue continues:
- Navigate to the Spectrus DB Enterprise Application Server installation folder <ACD>\SPECTRUSDB.SRV.
- Review CBOOKSERVER_ERRORS.log for errors.
- If MongoDB is running but the issue continues:
- Navigate to the Spectrus DB Enterprise Application Server installation folder <ACD>\SPECTRUSDB.SRV.
- Review CBOOKSERVER_ERRORS.log for errors.
- Web API usage is not allowed:
- Start ESMC and connect using the Spectrus DB administrator account.
- Select Users and Groups.
- On the Users tab, confirm that Can Use Web API is set to Yes for affected users.
- Ensure the number of API‑enabled users does not exceed available license keys.
- Confirm KAT_USERS group has ‘Can Use Web API’ permission assigned.
The KAT_USERS group can be configured with different name, confirm correct group configuration.
