• Reported values (e.g., yields, concentrations, peak areas) in Katalyst:
  • Appear rounded or truncated to fewer or more decimal places than users expect.
  • May differ slightly from instrument software or manual calculations due to rounding and significant‑figure rules.

Solution

• Identify where rounding occurs:
  • At data import (instrument export settings).
  • During calculations in Katalyst (internal precision and display rules).
  • In report templates (format strings).
• Adjust formatting:
  • If configurable, set the number of decimal places or significant figures in Katalyst report templates or display settings.
• Verify:
  • For a couple of wells, compute expected values manually and apply chosen rounding rules.
  • Confirm Katalyst’s displayed values match the agreed rounding/precision.
