Description
- Instrument control software (e.g., LC/MS workstation) uses a sample naming convention that:
- Does not include KAT IDs.
- Uses inconsistent or truncated well IDs.
- As a result, Katalyst cannot match incoming files to the correct wells/experiments automatically.
Solution
- Standardize sample naming in the instrument software:
- Use a template that includes KAT ID and well/plate position in the sample name or file name.
- Ensure this template is used consistently for all Katalyst experiments.
- Test integration:
- Generate a sequence file in Katalyst.
- Load it into the instrument software and confirm that sample names in the acquisition list match expectations.
- For existing data with bad names:
- Manually map acquired runs to wells using file rename and sequence‑file comparison (see KB 30 and KB 63).
- Consider treating this as a one‑time clean‑up and focus on template‑driven naming going forward.
