Description
- Exports from Katalyst to a target system (e.g., ELN, registration, document repository) sometimes land in:
- The wrong project or folder.
- A generic or “default” location instead of the intended area.
- This can cause confusion and extra manual work to move records.
Solution
- Check export mapping rules:
- Identify which Katalyst fields (project, study, category) are used to determine the target folder/project.
- Confirm all required fields are populated in the experiment.
- Validate mapping configuration:
- In the integration or export configuration, review mappings between Katalyst values and target system locations (e.g., project codes, folder IDs).
- Look for defaults that apply when mapping fails (commonly “Uncategorized” or root folder).
- Correct the configuration:
- Adjust mapping tables or rules so that each Katalyst project or tag maps uniquely to the correct destination.
- For unknown or new projects, either:
- Add them to the mapping; or
- Block export with a clear error, rather than silently using a default folder.
