Description
- Experiments created many versions ago (major upgrades since then) sometimes:
- Fail to open, or
- Open with missing components (plates, analyses).
- Newer experiments open without problems.
Solution
- Verify version compatibility:
- Check how far back the current version officially supports experiment formats from older releases.
- Migration strategy:
- If possible, open the experiment first in an intermediate version that is closer to its original version, then re‑save and upgrade stepwise.
- Alternatively, export the experiment from the old environment and import into the new environment using supported paths.
- If direct opening is required:
- Review logs for migration/conversion errors when opening the experiment.
- Work with Technical Support and Services team to identify whether a schema conversion script or patch is needed.
- Long term:
- Encourage periodic migration of important legacy experiments as part of upgrade projects, rather than leaving them many major versions behind.
