• When users create new materials manually (not via SDF), default units for:
  • Amount,
  • Concentration,
  • Density,
    may not match lab conventions.
• Users sometimes forget to change units, leading to incorrect calculations.

Solution

• Review default unit configuration:
  • Check environment‑ or user‑level settings that define default units for new materials.
  • Align them with commonly used lab units where possible.
• Validation:
  • For critical properties, use validation rules (if supported) to:
    • Limit allowed unit choices, or
    • Prompt users when non‑standard units are selected.
