Description
- When creating a new experiment in Katalyst, the user cannot save or proceed.
- The UI may highlight fields or show validation errors indicating that certain mandatory properties are missing (e.g., project, experiment type, template selection).
- These requirements may differ across environments due to configuration.
Solution
- Identify which fields are mandatory in your environment:
- Look for red asterisks or explicit validation messages on the experiment creation form.
- Review admin configuration for required experiment metadata (e.g., project, indication, assay type).
- Provide the missing information:
- Fill in required drop‑downs (project, experiment category).
- Supply mandatory text fields (title, description) if enforced by policy.
- If a field is required but not relevant for a specific workflow:
- Discuss with administrators whether that requirement can be relaxed or made optional in configuration.
- Ensure user permissions:
- If the user cannot see or select certain projects or categories, it may be due to group membership or role restrictions.
- Adjust access so the user can choose from valid values.
- Once all mandatory fields are set:
- Retry experiment creation and confirm the new experiment ID (KAT ID) is generated successfully.
