Description
- After upgrading either Katalyst or Spectrus DB, users encounter:
- Errors when opening experiments.
- Missing functionality or inconsistent behavior.
- Investigation shows that Katalyst and Spectrus DB versions are not on a supported, compatible combination.
Solution
- Check the supported version matrix for Katalyst and Spectrus DB (and underlying DB engine such as PostgreSQL).
- Identify whether:
- Katalyst is newer than the Spectrus DB version it connects to, or
- Spectrus DB is ahead of the Katalyst version.
- Recommended practice:
- Plan upgrades so Katalyst and Spectrus DB remain within supported ranges and are tested in tandem.
- Corrective actions:
- If Spectrus DB is too old for the current Katalyst:
- Upgrade Spectrus DB (and DB engine if needed) to a compatible version.
- If Katalyst is too old for the current Spectrus DB:
- Upgrade Katalyst to the corresponding supported version.
- If Spectrus DB is too old for the current Katalyst:
- After aligning versions:
- Test standard workflows (open experiments, attach data, reprocess) to confirm compatibility.
- Document the final version combination and planned path for future upgrades.
